Hodges Motorsports Update - USA Raceway

7/31/2010

This weekend we were heading again to USA Raceway to run with the ASCS Southwest Series but just seconds ago we got a call saying they are rained out. The pits and racetrack are under water after rain all week, and a large storm last night. Jody Williams was gracious enough to offer us a car to drive so we are going to pick it up and head down to Tularosa, NM to run with the NMMRA topless. This will be my first time in a non-wing car since the Roger McCluskey Classic on New Year's, and my first time to Tularosa to race though I have watched a race or two there. Jody's car is actually one of our old cars that I ran a lot non-wing so it should be fairly comfortable hopping in it. We would like to say a big thanks to Jody and the Williams family for allowing me to drive it this weekend. We will have an update tomorrow on how we did.

Hodges Motorsports Update - Devil's Bowl Speedway

7/24/2010

It was not our night at the Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX. I pulled pill 31 and that put me starting 5th in the 1st heat. It was a tough heat and the track was real heavy and fast still. I got to 4th on the start and fell back to finish 6th. We were really tight and it was too much load for the car to pull through. That set us back starting 6th in the 2nd B main. I jumped up to 4th on the start and was faster than 2nd and 3rd but it was hard to get around them. They transfer 4 and 5th was coming so I had to go. I got a good run through turns 3 and 4 one time and shot under 3rd place but he didn't see me and clipped my right front which sent me spinning up on one wheel. I also got hit by another car in the rear. We could not get the car fixed in time to go back out so our night was done. It was a tough night but everybody has one. We still have not made our decision on where we are going next weekend but it looks like we may head down to Tucson for the ASCS Southwest race.

Hodges Motorsports Update - Heart O' Texas

7/23/2010

Elm Mott, TX - We just finished up another night of racing under the lights at Heart O' Texas Speedway. I started off the night on a good note, pulling pill number 1 to start pole of the first heat race. I took off and won by almost half a lap. The car was as good as I have ever felt it, and I was looking forward to the feature. I drew pill 3 to start 3rd. After a few early cautions, I hung in 3rd until the steering started to get hot and fail. Earlier in the day we found our problem from Tucson, a bent rear end, but apparently there was more to it. I fell back to 7th holding on. All in all it was a good night and we'll get the steering changed and get ready for Devil's Bowl Saturday night. I would like to thank the Oil Medics for their hospitality and Mark for making the trek once again to help us out. We will have an update on Sunday about our results from Saturday.

Tijeras, NM - We just left the house and we are heading to Waco, TX for the ASCS Gulf South vs. Lonestar show tomorrow night at the elbows-up Heart O' Texas Speedway. It will be our fourth visit of the year there, which is a lot compared to other tracks on our schedule. Lately we have been getting pretty good there, finishing 2nd our last outing at Waco, against the Gulf South bunch and other top contenders such as Jason Johnson. We hope to improve on a good, but also disapointing run in Tucson this weekend. We will also be heading to Devil's Bowl in Mesquite, TX Saturday so check in Saturday and Sunday for our results.

Hodges Motorsports Update - USA Raceway

7/17/2010

After watching a shower around 5 o'clock last night, we got the show in here at Tucson. The clouds were dark and the rain came dead sideways with 45 mph plus winds (enough to knock down a billboard) but it wasn't enough to slow the show to a stop. The track was tacky fast, on-the-floor all night. I drew 27, which was good enough for the pole of the 2nd heat. I jumped out to the early lead and lead to the checkers to capture the heat race win, although I felt a vibration and the motor did not seem to pull as hard as it has. We did not have much time to change anything so we decided to give it a try in the A main. Starting 6th, I went to 5th on the start, still feeling the same symptoms as in the heat race. After trying the top one corner I fell back to 6th. There was hardly any passing and the track was wide open. I ended up finishing 6th. We will look closer at the engine tomorrow to see if we can pinpoint a problem. We want to say congratulations to Joshua Williams for capturing his first win this weekend and once again thank John Stroud for coming along. We are going to try and make the Texas-Two-Step next weekend at Heart O' Texas Speedway in Waco on Friday and Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite on Saturday.

We are heading south on I-25 right now on our way to Tucson, AZ. We are looking to continue our success with the ASCS Southwest series, coming off a 2nd and a win the last time the series ran at Aztec Speedway. The last couple times we have been to Tucson with a wing, we have had top 5's, and we certainly believe we can improve on that. After turning over last weekend, I guess you can say we can't have much of a worst result this weekend, so that is a positive. We want to say thanks to John Stroud for coming along again this weekend to help. We'll have an update as soon as we can.

Hodges Motorsports Update - Lawton Speedway

Hodges Motorsports Update - Lawton Speedway

7/10/2010

It was a rough night for the Hodges Motorsports Race Team here at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, OK. I started off the night pulling pill 21 which put me second row outside of the 2nd heat. After jumping to third on the start, I fell back to 4th and finished there. It was definitely the toughest heat of the night, but we were alright, and we knew what we needed to do to adjust for the A-main. Now I started 14th in the feature, and just a few laps in, the car right in front of me got loose and spun down the track a little and I had no place to go. I hit him and had a soft rollover. It tore up quite a bit of bolt on pieces, but the frame seemed alright. We'll try and give it another go next weekend down in Tucson, AZ. Thanks to Mark Rosborough for coming out and helping us again (we certainly needed his help tonight).

Hodges Motorsports Update - Lawton Speedway

7/9/2010

After only getting one night of action in last weekend after watching the rain wash away the second night of the Hutchinson Nationals, we hope that rain will hold out for this weekend's ASCS Sooner vs. Lonestar clash at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Ok. As of right now, it looks like we'll be okay, but Mother Nature can change her mind very quickly as we all know. After this weekend we will head down to Tucson for the ASCS Southwest event at USA Raceway. After missing a show we are sitting 4th in those point standings, coming off a win at Aztec Speedway in the regions previous show. Look for an update to see how we did Sunday.
