Hodges Motorsports Update - Boyd Raceway

6/10/2010

The ASCS Lonestar Series is in Texas this weekend and we are making the drive to the Fort Worth area for a race at Boyd Raceway on Friday and Cowtown Speedway on Saturday. We look to continue our string of regional top 3 finishes dating back to May 14th coming off our first win of the season. We have not raced at Boyd or Cowtown so it will be a new experience again. We will have an update on Saturday on our performance from Friday night.

Hodges Motorsports Update - Aztec Speedway

6/6/2010

The Hodges Motorsports team closed out the weekend on a good note here at Aztec Speedway. We were able to get the Napa Auto Parts, Benic Enterprises, Cabinet Door Store, K & N Filters, Wilwood Brakes, Keizer Wheels, ButlerBuilt Seating, Ortega's Appliance, Conroy Pneu Control, Wesmar/ McClintic powered Maxim #74x in the winner's circle tonight. They locked in the top 4 from the previous night so all we did was draw a pill for starting spot. I drew number 1 again, putting us on the pole. The track was slick top to bottom with not much to hold you in the beginning. After the second initial start, I went to the top and got a comfortable lead until a lap 8 caution. The track took rubber about two laps before and I didn't know because nobody had passed me. I fell back to about 3rd or 4th on the restart and regained a couple to go back to 2nd within a couple of laps. After that, I took over the lead again around lap 20 and lead the rest of the way. I need to thank Robert, Sandy, Jennifer, and Steven from the Cabinet Door Store as well as Bob, Bradley, Josh, and John Stroud once again for their outstanding help this weekend. We are still unsure of where we are heading next weekend, as there are a few options.

Hodges Motorsports Update - Aztec Speedway

It was the third event of the ASCS Rocky Mountain Series this year at Aztec Speedway paired with the Southwest bunch. It was a good pill draw night for me, as I drew number one to start 1st in the 1st heat and then number one again later, to start on the pole of the feature. I took off in the heat and won it which put me in the 8 car re-draw. I took off from the pole in the 25 lap feature and jumped out to first for about 8 - 10 laps before I got passed by Rick Zhiel on a restart. I held on to finish second, as the rest of the race went green. The track was dusty and slick for the main. We would like to thank John Stroud along with Bob, Bradley, Josh, and the Cabinet Door Store Crew for coming out and helping out. Although second is a good finish, we look for even more tomorrow night again here at Aztec.

This weekend we are making the easy drive up to Aztec, NM for the ASCS Southwest vs. Rocky Mountain double header. We will race tonight as well as tomorrow night. It will be good to see some familiar faces, as this is as close as we will get to home this season. After making our first ASCS National A Feature last weekend in Jetmore, KS, we look to keep improving. We will have an update tomorrow on what happened with the Hodges Motorsports Team.

Hodges Motorports Update - Jetmore Motorplex

5/31/2010

Night 2 in Jetmore, KS was an improvement from the first for the Hodges Motorsports team. I pulled 35 which put me starting 5th in the 4th heat. The track had two grooves on the top and bottom with a black streak through the middle. I got one spot on the start and after getting beside 2nd and 3rd more than once, I made the pass on 3rd on the final lap of the heat. We barely made the feature, capturing the final spot in points which put us 16th in the A main. We got under way after they tilled the top and bottom, which made the track faster. After catching the fence on the first lap, I put a small hole in the tire that let out air during the race, but not enough to take me out. I fell back a few spots and finished 20th. We are working in small steps to get better and hope to continue improving. We are still unsure of our plans for next weekend, though it will most likely be a two day show. We would like to give a big thank you to Mark Rosborough, who again traveled to help us out.

Hodges Motorports Update - Jetmore Motorplex

5/30/2010

After the meet and greet and parade earlier Saturday morning in the town of Jetmore, KS, racing got going under the lights with the ASCS National Series here at Jetmore Motorplex. The fast, high-bank 3/8 mile did not allow for much passing in the heat race, as I started 6th in the first heat, and finished 6th. We could have been better but everybody was about the same speed anyway. Now we started 9th in the first B main and after falling back on the intitial start to 11th or 12th, we made a charge to 4th when I found the good part of the race track. The Hodges Motorports team was pleased with our performance, but definitely thought there is room for improvement. We'll give it another go on Sunday night again at Jetmore. We hope to improve on our run from tonight. Look for results Monday morning on how we did.

This Saturday and Sunday, Hodges Motorsports is heading to Jetmore, KS for the Second Annual Boothill Casino Steve King Memorial. It will be the first ASCS National event since I-30 Speedway on April 10th. We have been running pretty good the past few weekends finishing 2nd in Waco, TX and 3rd in Peoria, AZ. It will be a good time to test ourselves with the solid National competition. Our well wishes go out to the Hockett family. We will update how we did Sunday morning so don't forget to check in.

Hodges Motorsports Update - Canyon Raceway

5/23/2010

It was once again a good night for the Hodges Motorports crew at Canyon Raceway in Peoria, AZ. I pulled pill number 30 to start off the night from 4th in the 1st heat race. After running the car in hard to turn 1 three-wide contending for first, I realized I wasn't going to make the rest of the corner and slipped off the edge in turn 2. I fell back to about 6th and near the end, I started figuring out my car and ran up to finish 4th, getting close to going by 2nd and 3rd. With no passing points, I started the main event from 11th. After a few initial starts, they finally got it going until a red on lap 5. The track was slick top to bottom, with a little moisture coming off, which was different than what the track looked like before the race. I restarted about 6th and then mid-way through, there was another caution, taking 2 of the cars in front of me. Aftere the restart I got by 4th and was about the same speed as the leaders. I came across the stripe 3rd, making it two podium finishes in a row. A big thanks to Miranda and Jonathan for helping clean up the car after hot laps. I am looking forward to going to Jetmore, KS this next weekend and testing ourselves once again with the ASCS National guys.
